All About Wicker Patio Furniture

Resin wicker patio furniture is by far a great choice when buying wicker furniture. This furniture will last season after season for many years to come. Not all wicker furniture has the same qualities. There are basically 2 different types of wicker patio furniture, natural and synthetic.

Natural wicker comes from plants such as bamboo or rattan. Even though this type of wicker can last for years, the elements can have a long term negative effect. Too much direct sunlight can cause the furniture to bleach out. The material in extreme cases wills actually bake and become brittle and can begin to break around the joints. Too much rain or constant humidity can cause the glue to release and come apart at the joints.

A new breed of wicker patio furniture has started popping up called resin wicker patio furniture. Now I know what you're thinking, so just hold on a sec. This isn't that old cheap white plastic of days gone by. This resin is made of fibers made from polyethylene. This material is virtually impervious to any weather conditions. Not only does this make weather conditions no longer an issue but the strength it adds to the wicker itself makes this stuff tough as nails.

Cheaper patio furniture has woven wicker as the frame structure itself. Even though this product comes from plant material it will not hold up to extreme weather conditions. It is best to choose something that is all weather like a resin for your wicker patio furniture, or a synthetic wicker that manufactures are now adding aluminum, teak, or even steel to the frame structure. Aluminum is a great addition because it is light, strong and will not rust. Teak is a great addition because it has that great look and holds up to any weather.

Resin wicker patio furniture is made from resin fibers that are formed into narrow pieces like a real bamboo or rattan would be and you absolutely cannot tell the difference. But, it is much stronger and extreme weather conditions have no effect on it.

Whether you choose resin for your wicker patio furniture or you choose a natural material with other materials added for strength and durability, you will be rewarded for many years to come. Enjoy relaxing in your new outdoor space.
